Tribal Police Department
The Poarch Creek Tribal Police Department functions as the primary law enforcement
agency for the Poarch Creek Indian Reservation. The PCIPD also provides law enforcement services for the
surrounding community. Currently there are seven police officers, one corporal, and one chief of police.
These officers respond to a diverse assortment of job responsibilities such as warrant and civil process
services, crowd control, domestic disturbances, background investigations, etc. Tribal Police Officers are
cross-deputized with the county and often provide assistance to the Escambia County Sheriff's Department,
Atmore Police Department and also the Alabama State Troopers. The department provides 24 hour police
and dispatch coverage for a 17 mile radius including traffic patrol, residential and commercial building patrol,
safety programs and various community related services that assist with the Escambia County Drug Task
Force for the investigation and eradication of drugs in the area.
