Tribal Court

The overall goal of the Tribal Court System is to institutionalize the rule of the law in the enhancement of the Tribe's capability to provide judicial services to the Tribal members. The Judicial power of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians is vested exclusively on the judicial system, which consists of a Tribal Supreme Court and a Court of general jurisdiction known as the Tribal Court. The Courts have all authority provided by Tribal Law and the Tribal Supreme Court authority to promulgate rules of Court for the administration of the Judicial system, rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Criminal Procedure. The Tribal Court exercises jurisdiction over Indians in all misdemeanor criminal offenses, traffic matters, civil and juvenile cases. Court sessions are held the first and third Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Criminal and civil cases are open to the public, but Juvenile cases are closed. The Juvenile Probation Officer is responsible for all juveniles who are placed on probation. The Officer schedules all appointment, community service and other activities involving juvenile offenders.
