Arthur Mothershed
Arthur Mothershed is the Chief Financial Officer of PCI Gaming, a business enterprise
of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. As CFO, Mothershed is responsible for the overall
fiscal health and stability of tribal gaming, which includes three Class II casinos within the
state of Alabama. He manages financial reporting, and develops and administers policies
on finance, accounting, budgeting, internal controls and auditing. He negotiates and
executes all vendor contracts.
In addition to overseeing day-to-day functions, Mothershed also works strategically
toward building partnerships and managing future growth. Mothershed serves on the
Creek Indian Enterprises Board of Directors, and is actively involved in the development
of all Tribal economic enterprises.
In June 2005, Mothershed was elected Treasurer of the nine-member Tribal Council
of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. As Treasurer, he is establishing streamlined Tribal
Government financial reporting, to provide better decision-making information for the
Tribal Council and simplified accountability for Tribal members.
Arthur Mothershed holds a master's degree in Business Administration from the
University of Alabama and a bachelor's degree from Faulkner University. He previously
held management positions with the Winn Dixie and Bruno's corporations. Mothershed
currently serves on the Board of Directors for Wachovia Bank and the Chamber of
Commerce in Wetumpka, Alabama.
A true ambassador, Mothershed represents the Tribe and its gaming interests to the
public, working with political and community leaders and members of the media.
Mothershed's interest in leadership and Tribal Government stems from a sincere desire
to improve the lives of Tribal members and to strengthen the Tribe's position as a
sovereign and self-sufficient nation. Born and raised in the Poarch Tribal community, he
has a particular interest in cultural awareness, assisted living for Tribal elders, universal
healthcare for members, and economic development beyond gaming.
